Untangle FAQs

How can Untangle help me?

Untangle can help you in lots of different ways. If you’re looking for support, you can access:

  • A Community to alleviate loneliness – join a kind and welcoming community where you can meet others who relate and ask questions. We have forum groups for all types of loss (parent, partner, suicide, sudden etc.), as well as the stages you are going through (e.g. anticipatory loss, moving forwards). The community is moderated and safeguarded, so you’ll feel comfortable sharing your feelings with people who know what it’s like to lose a loved one.
  • Daily live support groups – either run by members or the team, join our live video support groups on Zoom to connect with others who understand. There’s never any pressure to share, and if you’d prefer to watch along instead you can do so within the app.
  • Wellness Tools to cope with grief – use over 120+ tools and exercises to help you cope with anxiety, low mood, guilt, anger and other common feelings you may experience after your loss.
  • Events with experts –  learn more about coping with grief from therapists, neuroscientists, coaches, nutritionists and more experts on all aspects of grief.
  • Guides to simplify logistics – advice on how to complete the practical tasks after a loss, with a range of articles with step by step instructions.
  • Therapy and group therapy  – join our affordable group therapy course, or book a 1 to 1 session with our trusted and vetted therapy partners.

Our team is always on hand to answer any questions via chat or email.

How much does it cost?

Untangle costs £4.99 per month (or equivalent in your currency), with a 14 day free trial to see if it’s the right fit for you. This fee includes access to all daily live events and support groups, hundreds of expert videos, a supportive and judgement-free community, plus over 50 coping tools and exercises. Charging a subscription means we’re able to keep the community safe and moderated, work with the best grief experts, and offer you the best support possible.

What is the story behind Untangle?

Our founder, Emily, set out on a mission to make sure no one goes through a loss alone, after finding it lonely and overwhelming when her grandpa died. She knew that the right support could help people navigate loss and rebuild their life, and the result was Untangle. You can read Untangle’s story here.

I need help urgently, where can I get this?

Untangle does not offer crisis support. If you are in crisis you can call and speak to someone at Samaritans 24/7 on 116 123 (UK) or the Crisis and Suicide Line on 205-323-7777 (US).

I would like to provide grief support at my company or organisation, does Untangle offer this?

Yes. Untangle supports organisations of all sizes through a 24/7 Employee Support App, Bereavement Training, and Policy and Process Development. If you would like to discuss your organisation’s needs, or find out more, please email [email protected].

Who can join Untangle?

Anyone over the age of 18 can join Untangle. We unfortunately cannot support children under the age of 18. If you are a child looking for bereavement support, you can head to Child Bereavement UK, Grief Encounter or Children Grieve (US).

Where are you located?

The Untangle Team is located in England so we are online from 9am to 6pm GMT. However, we have members in our community from all over the world (138 countries!) We try our best to make the times of our events and support groups suitable for the majority of our members.

How do I join events and/or support groups?

If you sign up or log in to the app, you can head to our Events page to see what’s coming up. There, you can find out more about our events and RSVP to an event by clicking join. You can also watch along with most of our events live in the app.

What are live video support groups like?

A virtual hug! Our support groups are kind and safe places where you’ll have the chance to share how you feel with a group of others who also understand what it’s like to lose a loved one. They are run by a trained member of the Untangle team who will make sure everyone has time to speak, but there is no pressure to share. You can keep your camera off and just listen if you’d prefer.

I have a question about Untangle, where can I find the answer?

If you send an email to [email protected] or DM a member of the Untangle Team in the app, we will answer your question as soon as we can.

I’m having problems with my Untangle account, can you help?

How do I cancel my subscription?

We’re sorry to hear that Untangle isn’t right for you. To cancel your subscription, please open the App Store or Play Store on your phone, and head to Settings and then Subscriptions. Here you’ll be able to cancel. If you have any problems, send an email to [email protected] or DM one of the Untangle Team in the app. Please note – deleting your Untangle account will not automatically cancel your subscription.

Can you help me find a counsellor or therapist?

Yes! We partner with a range of therapists and counsellors to help you find the right fit, within your budget. When you feel ready to take this step, you can find out more and book a consultation with one of our therapists here. Please note, individual therapy is currently just for those in the UK.

We also run an affordable group therapy course, and this is open to our international members. Find out more and book your spot on the next course here.

I’m a service provider or grief expert, and I’d like to partner with you, where can I get more information?

If you think you might have a service that our community would be interested in, or could host an expert event for us, we’d love to hear from you. If you send an email to [email protected], we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
